Florida Eyes a Talking Head

Joe Scarborough Lives in the the TPT capital of Florida, good ol’ Pensacola. He represented the region in Congress for three terms during the 90’s and after his brief reign in politics, Joe turned to the TV airwaves.
For most of his tenure on MSNBC (Fox of the Left), Joe Scarborough has been a cute smiley faced no-body who has managed to outrank Tucker Carslon in the battle of who sucks more, and for a GOP member, Scarborough removed his partisan fangs at the studio door. He’s less of an ideologue, I imagine because of the network he’s on. He tries to come off as one of those “common sense” politicians, the types that are missing from Washington, and given the opportunity to go back to DC, I wouldn’t be surprised if he took the bait. Talk about an ego trip in being asked to represent a state the size of Florida.
Now that Fidel Fighting Mel Martinez is retiring, Florida Republicans are scrambling to find a replacement, while the Democrats don’t have many solid options. Scarborough has been approched by donors and is clearly testing the waters…..But I think it’s great that he admitted the main drawback…Does he have more societal influence on the airwaves or in the Senate?
His latest morning show actually garners decent ratings and the talking head style he emplyoys which is de-fanged with other on air personalities has actually established itself as a legit morning choice for your daily dose of politics. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Question: ‘Morning Joe’ or Sen. Joe?
By Jeremy Wallace
Television host Joe Scarborough has a new radio show and is feeling good about the influence he’s having on politics.
But the former congressman from Pensacola said he may run for office again, maybe even the U.S. Senate in 2010.
“I haven’t closed it off,” said Scarborough, a Republican who is scheduled to address the Manatee County Republican Party at its annual Lincoln Day Dinner on Feb. 20. “I’ve been getting some calls from some fundraisers in Florida.”
Scarborough said he is also hearing from other U.S. senators who want him to run for the seat that Sen. Mel Martinez announced he is leaving next year.
He just needs to decide whether he could have as much influence on public policy as one of 100 senators as he does now on his MSNBC program “Morning Joe,” he said.
